Love Islanders are only allowed 2 drinks per night – here’s why

How much do they drink on love island?

The Love Islanders always seem like they’re living their best lives, and really just having great craic during those evenings in the villa.

That of course is when there’s no drama happening, the gang gets dressed to the nines and dance around without a care in the world.

And if you’re a huge fan of the show, you’ve probably noticed that nobody ever seems to get drunk, despite the fact that they always seem to have a glass of wine in hand.

There is a reason for this though, the producers of the show have limited the amount of drink each person gets each night to two per person.

And Liana Isadora Van-Riel, who starred in the 2016 series, revealed all the juicy details about this to The Sun.

She said: “You’re allowed one or two drinks a night, either wine or beer, no spirits.”

On the bigger nights, the islanders tend to use up their two drinks, but the smaller ones tend to be calmer.

And series four’s Eyal Booker told Closer: “It was very, very limited. Max two glasses of wine a night and that’s max!”

A spokesperson for the show said: “We provide our Islanders with all of the necessary precautionary measures and all alcohol consumption is strictly monitored by our production team.”

But this little two drink rule didn’t stop our very own Maura Higgins during the 2019 series, as she admitted during a Q&A that she managed to sneak some extra wine.

She said: “I should never tell, but I’m gonna…”

“Some nights you get one glass of wine, some nights you get two, you either get a choice of beer or wine, I always choose wine.”

“One night I went into the larder where the drinks get prepared and there’s like a water dispenser there. I went in before everyone else and I downed everyone’s wine and I filled it up with water.”

“And I got in really big trouble. The whole island got punished the following night because I got really drunk. I shouldn’t have probably said that. I’ll get in big trouble now!”

So there you have it, Maura is the only one, that we know of, who’s gotten drunk on the show.
