Candy is great, but don’t you just hate taking all that time to chew it up before you swallow? If only there was a more efficient way to mainline the sugary sweetness into your system…
We kid, of course, but two of the Lehigh Valley’s most celebrated companies aren’t.
The A-Treat soda brand and Just Born Quality Confections are teaming up for Mike and Ike sodas, and both a cherry and strawberry flavor are launching — just in time for your Fourth of July cookouts. The cross-brand collaboration began earlier this month. Both flavors will be available in 20-ounce bottles.
“The professional and family relationship between Just Born and Jaindl goes back decades, well back to my grade school days,” said David Jaindl, the Jaindl Companies’ President, in a release from the company. “We thought an alliance between the two classic brands like A-Treat and Mike and Ike is something that makes a lot of sense when you consider not only their local history, but the nostalgia associated with each.”
The Jaindl Companies, which owns the soda brand, and Just Born each have a rich history in the Lehigh Valley. And turning two of the best Mike and Ikes flavors into soda seems like the right way for the two to make that connection, rather than something like turkey-flavored Peeps.
The sodas will be on shelves in stores regionally starting in July.
