There is no better way to determine whether you are pregnant than a pregnancy test.
However, there are some signs and symptoms that may give you some hints.
Most of us are aware of the classic signs, such as missing your period or having tender or swollen breasts, but there are some less common symptoms that could indicate that you are pregnant.
Here are 7 less obvious signs that you could be pregnant:
1.Moodiness – Becoming pregnant leads to a flood of hormones in your body. This can make you unusually emotional and upset. Mood swings can also be common.
2.Bloating – Many people associate bloating with overeating or with something that doesn’t agree with our digestive system, but it can also be a sign that you are pregnant.
Hormonal changes in early pregnancy can cause bloating, similar to how you might feel at the beginning of your period.
3.Light spotting – A small amount of light spotting may also be a sign of early pregnancy. Known as implantation bleeding, the spotting is caused when the fertilised egg attaches to the lining of the womb approximately 10 to 14 days after conception.
The implantation bleeding usually occurs around the time of a menstrual period.
4. Cramping – Some women may experience uterine cramping during early pregnancy.
5. Constipation – Hormonal changes can also cause the digestive system to slow down, leading to constipation.
6. Food aversions – During early pregnancy, some women experience food aversions. You may become sensitive to certain smells, and your sense of taste may change.
Like other symptoms, this is caused by a hormonal change.
7. Nasal congestion – The increase in hormonal levels and blood production can cause the mucous membrane in your nose to swell, dry and bleed easily.
This may lead to a stuffy or runny nose.
There are also well-known symptoms such as the following:
- Missed period – If a week or more has passed without the start of your expected period, you may be pregnant.
- Tender, swollen breasts – Hormonal changes can make your breasts sensitive or sore. This will ease as your body adjusts to the hormonal change.
- Nausea – Morning sickness often begins a month after you become pregnant. However, some women don’t experience this.
- Increased urination – The amount of blood in your body during pregnancy increases, causing your kidneys to process extra fluid that ends up in the bladder.
- Fatigue – During early pregnancy, you have an increased level of progesterone, which can make you feel sleepy.
